It is my honour to be one of the members of the Lung Kong World Federation Ltd. Lau Tak Yung (LTY) Memorial Primary School Family. Thank you so much for the support from the Supervisor Mr. Cheng. Also, I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Principal Mr. So who always shares his experiences with all of us. His wisdom and leadership make all the staff and teachers fill with solicitude and positivity to contribute to education. 我是一位英文及體育科教師,已執教鞭二十多年,曾借調教育局,協助香港及內地學校發展英語課程,過程中在行政、教學及課程優化積累了不少經驗。我深信世上沒有教不來的孩子,只要運用適合孩子的教學法,所有孩子都能發揮個人才能,故此,我修讀戲劇教學碩士課程,實踐「做中學,學中做」的教育理念,以戲劇演繹的方式增加學生學習英文的興趣,改變教學形式,從而改變學生對學習英文的看法。 | |||
I used to teach English and Physical Education (PE). I have been working in the primary sector for over 20 years. I was seconded to Education Bureau to help some primary schools in Hong Kong and China develop the English school-based curriculum. I accumulated lots of precious experience in administration, pedagogies and curriculum adaptation. I believe that there is no student who can’t be taught. However, teachers have to find a suitable pedagogy to teach students and they will learn effectively. Therefore, I took my second master degree called Master of Applied Theatre and Drama Education which can put the concept of ‘learning-by-doing’ into practice. Learning English through drama can arouse students’ interest to learn. It can help students have a new perspective to learn English and reduce the phobia of learning English. | |||

LTY has a very rich caring atmosphere. Principal, teachers and parents promote positive education. Encouragement and appreciation can ensure students’ performance excels in different aspects and can make students accept advice willingly. More appreciation, thanksgiving and introspection can enhance the spirit of reciprocal affection to create a harmonious campus. Hence, every single student loves going to school to learn. That is exactly the vision we pursue. | |||

LTY always emphasizes to ‘touch’ the knowledge and let students learn from abstract to concrete. It is precious to know how to think and raise out the questions compared with listening to teachers to learn only. When the participation and contribution of students is valued, peer interaction will be increased. The motivation and environment of learning are the key elements to increase the effectiveness of learning. We totally believe that building up a superior language learning environment can provide more opportunities to learn language. It can also enhance their learning interest efficiently. The element of Drama education will be incorporated into the curriculum. Small class teaching is an advantage for catering for learners’ diversities. Students can learn with quality in the learning process through ‘Tripartite Model’. The classroom will be activated through participation and cooperation.

Information Technology (IT) is a must in learning nowadays especially in self-regulated domain. We encourage our students to jump out from the limitation of the textbooks. For instance, the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) curriculum is rapidly developed. It can cultivate students innovative thinking allowing the students to apply what they have learnt to their daily lives. All these advanced knowledge can stimulate students to step out to overtake the pace of an epoch. | |||

There is no exaggeration of the importance of study tours outside Hong Kong. We hope to broaden students’ horizons by running out from the classroom to ‘experience’ the world. Thus, students can understand the connection between themselves and the society or the world. They will become more mature and independent. The world changes from day to day but the enthusiasm of being an educator never fades. We have an outstanding teaching team which is willing to change for an improvement. More importantly, our team want to motivate our students to learn meaningfully and effectively. Through focusing on a variety of subjects such as academics, sports and art, their potential to contribute to the society is beyond comprehension. | |||
